Age: 12 months+ This project will help make a new place seem a little less strange. You can take pictures of the toys, the caregivers, the classroom and the play yard. For older children you can have words to go a long with the pictures and even a short story. The other kids in the classroom can even help make the album. You can even put a picture of all the kids in the album as well. |
Sharing BinMaterials: dish tub or large bin and toys of similar type.
Age: 18 months+ An emerging skill where children will gain successful experiences sharing and see positive sides of the concept. when children are seated next to each other set the container of toys between them and tell them "I'll let you two share these toys." As they get older and playin with play dough you can put the the play dough tools on he table between them stating the same "share" sentence. This will even work with technology. If you have a computer in the room the children can take turns using it. Just always remember you have to use the word "share" when you do this. |
Old WalletsMaterials: Old wallets, photos of the children and their families.
Age: 24 months+ This exercise teaches an early understanding of diversity. The children will look through the wallet at all the pictures. This will even help gain their fine motor skills from just opening and closing the wallet. Older children can try to match the children to the parents. The children can even decorate the wallets and choose the photos to put in. |
